A trip to Devbagh and Dandeli works a perfect combination for nature lovers and adventure freaks.
Devbagh is an island off the the karwar coast. Since the island is maintained by Jungle Resorts, the beach is accessible to only the people staying in the resort.
Dandeli is located in a tropical rainforest and is considered a paradise for bird watchers and water sports enthusiasts.
Day 1: Arrive at Karwar by noon and head to Jungle Resorts office in Karwar. Get transferred in the resort vehicle to the jetty and from there by boat to Devbagh island. ( parking for vehicles is available near the jungle resorts office)
Enjoy tasty food in Golghar, the resort dining hall. Water activities such as jet ski, banana boat ride, speed boat, para sailing etc. Play on the golden sand, swim in the lagoons, witness the breath-taking sunset. Enjoy the campfire with yummy barbeque food and snacks on the beach, have dinner and relax.
Day2: Jungle trek and birdwatching session early in the morning. Get educated about a lot of medicinal herbs and witness the mangrove vegetation on some portion of the island. Have breakfast and go for dolphin watch over the confluence of river Kali and the mighty Arabian sea. Get ferried back to Karwar by around 11.00 am. Visit the marine museum on Rabindranath Tagore beach.
Head towards Dandeli which is around 110 Kms from Karwar. The drive through the thick forests of western ghats is awesome.You will cross the anshi forest reserve on the way. The lush greenery is a visual treat for the nature lovers. The journey takes around 3 hours to reach Dandeli.
Arrive at Dandeli and check-in to homestay or hotel. Have lunch and head to experience water activities such as Natural Jacuzzi, Zorbing, Kayaking, canoeing, coracle ride etc. Don’t miss watching the sunset at the Sykes point at 6.00pm. Reach homestay have dinner and enjoy campfire. Go for night jungle trek and witness the nocturnal life in the lush forests of Dandeli. Rest for the day after trek.
Day 3: Wakeup around 6.00am go for jungle trek along the stream and bird watching. Have breakfast and head to kali adventure camp for white water rafting. The rafting takes around 4 hrs which includes the briefing and training sessions followed by the rafting for 9 kms. There are about 9 rapids of level 1, 2 and 3 . Visit the supa dam and head back to homestay . Have lunch and depart.
